How to Enhance the Happiness of Living Alone

Establishing an orderly daily routine

A daily routine refers to the fixed procedures followed in daily life. When living alone, although one has complete freedom of space, the lack of regularity may lead to reversed day and night schedules and a chaotic life. Therefore, it is particularly important to establish a personal daily routine. Usually, I plan morning and evening routines. A morning routine helps ensure a good start to the day. The state in the morning often determines the work efficiency and mood for the entire day. For example, if one rushes out in the morning, forgets to have breakfast or takes important documents, then the day is likely to go poorly. On the contrary, if there is a fixed morning routine, such as the following arrangement:
· 6:00 Get up and do morning exercises
· 6:50 Prepare breakfast and wash up
· 7:30 Finish eating and tidy up the kitchen
· 8:00 Dress neatly, check the belongings and go out
This will make the day go more smoothly. An evening routine aims to help oneself go to bed on time and avoid affecting sleep quality due to being addicted to TV dramas or work pressure.

Building a social support network

Living alone does not mean being isolated from the world. As social animals, humans need to establish their own social support systems. According to the definition of social psychology, a social support network is composed of a series of interpersonal interactions through which individuals can maintain their social identity and obtain emotional support, material assistance, information exchange, and new social opportunities. For those living alone, family members, friends, colleagues, or classmates can all be part of their social support system. They can share their joys when they are happy and confide their troubles when they encounter difficulties. Sometimes, people living alone may feel embarrassed to trouble others, but in fact, seeking help moderately is normal and necessary. Whether it is asking for help to move furniture or joking with friends, these interactions are all conducive to enhancing interpersonal relationships.

Mastering household skills

uring the period of living alone, maintaining a clean and tidy living environment is of vital importance. A clean and comfortable home not only makes one feel at ease but also enhances the quality of life. Doing housework does not require achieving a flawless standard, but rather developing good habits to make daily life more convenient. For instance, washing dishes promptly after meals, taking out the trash when leaving home, and cleaning the bathroom after a bath. These seemingly insignificant tasks, once turned into habits, can significantly improve the living environment and prevent problems such as unpleasant odors after a week.

Cultivating personal interests and hobbies

People living alone often have more free time after work or on holidays. If they have nothing to do, they may feel lonely and their sense of happiness may decrease. Therefore, developing some interests and hobbies is very beneficial. This can not only enrich life but also bring unexpected gains, such as making friends with similar interests, occasionally showing off talents and surprising others, or even earning extra income. Even if one cannot travel to Paris immediately, studying French art history or learning oil painting is also a good choice
